ScanXm can now read full slide digital pathology images!

ScanXm just received a major update to be able to read full slide digital pathology images. It uses OpenSlide (https://openslide.org/), so will be able to load the images of most microscope vendors, including DICOM.

Download ScanXm at https://scanxm.com/

Please note:

– ScanXm does not support dynamic loading, meaning the entire image must fit in a single contiguous block of memory. Consequently, images can be no larger than 53,509 x 53,509 pixels. You will be able to load in a different resolution if available.

– Painting on the full slide may be a bit slow on large images because of the way ScanXm writes directly into the label map. I therefore recommend cropping to a smaller region of 10,000 x 10,000 pixels or less first.

Many thanks to the developers of OpenSlide, ITK, VTK and wxWidgets for their valuable work!
